It is autumn, one of the most beautiful seasons of the year! Despite the fact that the days are getting shorter and shorter, this is not an excuse to stay indoors, as there are plenty of things to be appreciated outside and have fun.

There’s nothing better and cheaper than a simple autumnal stroll. You will definitely be surprised with the kaleidoscope of colours the season gives to the parks in your neighborhood, for example. This is a good time to visit the Dublin Mountains and also to explore the grounds of Ireland’s many castles. You can start visiting Malahide Castle and Gardens, for example. Located just over 25 minutes away from Dublin, this is absolutely perfect for an autumn walking.
The Irish autumn is also the start of the whale-watching season in the country, bringing a great opportunity to see those amazing animals from pretty close. If you are interested, Cork is one of the best places to look for whales off the coast. There, it is possible to go on a boat tour to appreciate the beauty of those animals even closer. As well, if you are travelling around the country’s coastline, it is possible do see dolphins and harbour porpoises.
Wicklow is also known as the garden of Ireland and autumn is one of the best times of the year to visit this beautiful place, as the trees shimmer in spectacular golds and reds, rivalling with the autumnal foliage. There, you can join the Glendalough Guided Walks, or simply follow the well-marked routes at your own pace, stopping off in the pretty village for some food and a well-deserved cup of tea.
Ireland is full of cosy cafes that are perfect to relax in a cold day while you enjoy a warm coffee or cup of tea, preferably accompanied by some delicious cakes and pastries specialties. And, if you haven’t tried, why not taste an original Irish coffee? The tasty combination of coffee, Irish whiskey, sugar and cream is absolutely suitable for the cold season.
To spend a cold autumn evening in an Irish pub enjoying a traditional music session with a pint of Guinness is definitely a great way to finish your day, isn’t it?
